Asteroid Harvester: Grade 9

In this challenge students are asked to construct an arm that will collect different samples from a container representing an ‘asteroid’ and place them in a sorting area. The challenge mimics a possible future scenario where resources may be mined off of asteroids. We have integrated a storyline to introduce the challenge to the students.

This Challenge is tied to the Space Exploration unit in the Grade 9 Alberta science curriculum and introduces students to robotics, machines in space, and human exploration of space.
